Research Interests

Broadly speaking, my research investigates various types of perceptual bias, particularly in the context of relationships with friends and romantic partners. In one line of research, with John Holmes and Joanne Wood, I am investigating how having low self-esteem influences the way people perceive the sacrifices their romantic partners make for them. A second, conducted with John Holmes and Mike Ross, focuses on positive bias in trait perception between friends and romantic partners. Finally, with Grainne Fitzsimons and Aaron Kay, I am also investigating people's beliefs about meaning in life after negative experiences.
