Background I received my Bachelor of Science (Hons) in psychology from the University of Western Ontario. During my time there I cultivated my interest in I/O psychology as a research assistant in the TeamWork Lab and as an independent studies student under Dr. Natalie Allen. In my final year, I completed my honors thesis on the psychology of political ideologies under the supervision of Dr. Clive Seligman. Research Interests Broadly speaking, my research interests are in leadership and employee motivation. My primary focus of study is on organizational vision as a component of leadership. I am interested in how a leader's vision can motivate employees' efforts and why this occurs. Specifically, I study how making connection between values espoused in a vision and those endorsed by organizational members can enhance motivation and the boundary conditions of this effect. More recently, I extended this line of research to examine the effects of person-vision identity congruence. Overall, my research aims to elucidate the cognitive, social, and affective processes involved in the persuasive effects of visions so that leaders can formulate and communicate visions more effectively. My personal interests in psychology (outside of I/O) include political psychology and human mate selection. |
