June 5-9th, 2017 – Duke Summer Institute at The Centre for HOPE

An extremely helpful week discussing how to approach teaching the history of economic thought with director Bruce Caldwell, Jason Brent and a group of graduate students and faculty drawn from many parts of the world.   The Centre the History of Political Economy is the most recent initiative at Duke to promote research on and the teaching of the history of economics.

I have a renewed belief that in teaching HOPE the challenge is to find means that allow students to inhabit conceptions of the economy that in another time had considerable credibility and that complement, deepen or challenge those they already possess.
